1965–1981Mickey Ruskin opened this restaurant and club on Park Avenue South in 1965; it closed in 1974 and reopened in 1975 under Tommy Dean Mills, until 1981. Debbie Harry was a waitress here; Patti Smith and Lenny Kaye opened for Phil Ochs on New Year’s Day 1974; and after it reopened it became one of the birthplaces of punk, with bands from the Ramones and Blondie to Klaus Nomi, per Wikipedia.
