What the map is

NYC Sound is a free map of the music artists Wikipedia ties to New York City’s neighborhoods, made by realname studio. It is built every week from Wikipedia and Wikidata, with a few things kept by hand, and the questions page says how. A tie to a neighborhood says what Wikipedia records, not where anyone lives today.

It can be wrong. It is offered as it is, with no promise that it is complete, accurate or always available. As far as the law allows, realname studio is not liable for any loss that comes from using the map or the sites it links to.

Whose content it is

Biographies come from Wikipedia, under CC BY-SA 4.0, and facts from Wikidata, under CC0. Each photo keeps its own license, which the artist’s card names with its author and source. The streets are © OpenStreetMap contributors. Artists’ names and pictures, and the names of Spotify and Ticketmaster, belong to their owners; their place on the map is not an endorsement. The map’s own design is realname studio’s.

Corrections

Where an artist’s card offers “Suggest a correction”, a person checks the source you give before anything on the map changes, and nothing you send is published as it is.

Shows and tickets

The shows on the map and on artists’ cards come from Ticketmaster and can change or be cancelled. Tickets are sold by Ticketmaster under its own terms; NYC Sound sells nothing and holds no tickets.
