1959Opened in 1959 in a basement on MacDougal Street at Minetta Lane. Dave Van Ronk played here early in his career, Mary Travers was a waitress here before Peter, Paul and Mary, Tiny Tim played two weeks in 1962, and on Richie Havens’s recommendation the club hired Jimi Hendrix in 1966, per Wikipedia.
