    Knitting Factory (East Houston Street)

    1992

Michael Dorf opened the Knitting Factory in 1987 on East Houston Street as a cafe and avant-garde performance space, and moved it to Leonard Street in 1994, per amNewYork. Jeff Buckley played the club in March and April 1992; four songs from those shows, three of them from a WFMU broadcast on 22 March, are on Songs to No One 1991–1992, his album with Gary Lucas, per Wikipedia. Roy Nathanson and David Cale’s Deep in a Dream of You had its New York premiere here that year, per Wikipedia’s article on Nathanson.
