Cedar Playground (Cedar Park)
1973NYC Parks calls Cedar Playground, known locally as Cedar Park, one of the birthplaces of hip-hop and the spot for many park jams back then. It says Cindy Campbell’s back-to-school jam of 11 August 1973, hosted by her brother DJ Kool Herc, grew too crowded for the building’s rec room, and that Herc’s parties then moved outdoors to the parks.
